API-led integration for improved healthcare interoperability
Keywords:
API-led integration, healthcare interoperabilityAbstract
APIS increase healthcare connection. This study demonstrated API-led linkages may improve healthcare data interchange, efficiency, and collaboration. Broken systems, data formats, and protocols make hospitals incompatible. These impediments impair efficiency, decision-making, and patient care. APIs enable healthcare businesses to safely share real-time medical data across platforms, overcoming various issues. Module-based API communication facilitates healthcare data exchange. API integration enables doctors, insurers, labs, and others communicate patient data and make better decisions. This research demonstrates REST and HL7 FHIR APIs. The protocols allow healthcare companies to establish scalable APIs for future demands without legacy system participation.
Medical data is delicate, hence API-led healthcare integration uses security. Healthcare providers safeguard patient data using OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect due to API cybersecurity issues. Healthcare patient trust and HIPAA need safe data flow. Patient permission and corporate data interchange may be complicated by healthcare APIs.
